Oh its great how now and then an example pops up reminding us of why we volunteer or play Canada’s game! As normal, it takes a group of young ladies to do it.

This past Sunday October 15, 2017 at the Etobicoke Pink the Rink Tournament, the Goulbourn Rockets played a great game and won a well-deserved Gold medal in the final against our Gloucester-Cumberland Girls Hockey Atom B Stars by a score of 2-1.

As our young ladies may have lost the game, they won the respect of the Goulborn Rockets players, parents, and the Goulbourne Girls Hockey Association President Cathy Bureau.

ODWHA Executive Melinda Switzer – parent of a Goulbourn Rocket player said “After the presentation of medals the Gloucester players formed a line to salute our girls as they left the ice. Kudos to the coaching staff and parents for showing not only their girls but our girls and everyone watching what true sportsmanship is. So very impressive”

Goulbourne Girls Hockey Association President Cathy Bureau emailed me saying “Thank you for showing such an amazing show of sportsmanship. Extremely classy and very much appreciated.”

Good on GCGH Atom B for their Silver Medal and show of sportsmanship, buy also great on Goulbourne for recognizing and sharing the story - equally showing great sportsmanship in sharing the story. These are stories that all the effort by all really worthwhile!!
